The limitation is in the PDF format, which presupposes a certain page size when it is laid out and throws away paragraph information in the process.* The exception may be tagged PDF, which can be reflowed. I have not done a full test of tagging a PDF and running pdftohtml on it. If somebody has some experience with tagged PDF, you could try and see what you can come up with and share it. Not a day goes by without our being called upon to help one another--at home, at work, on the street, on the phone.... We do what we can. Yet so much comes up to complicate this natural response: 'Will I have what it takes?' 'How much is enough?' 'How can I deal with suffering?' 'And what really helps, anyway?' In this practical helper's companion, the authors explore a path through these confusions, and provide support and inspiration fo us in our efforts as members of the helping professions, as volunteers, as community activists, or simply as friends and family trying to meet each other's needs. Here too are deeply moving personal accounts: A housewife brings zoo animals to lift the spirits of nursing home residents; a nun tends the wounded on the first night of the Nicaraguan revolution; a police officer talks a desperate father out of leaping from a roof with his child; a nurse allows an infant to spend its last moments of life in her arms rather than on a hospital machine. From many such stories and the authors' reflections, we can find strength, clarity, and wisdom for those times when we are called on to care for one another. How Can I Help? Reminds us just how much we have to give and how doing so can lead to some of the most joyous moments of our lives. From the Trade Paperback edition. Not that it was ever easy, but you have to admit: The days of people that caught their eye are long gone. Today, buyers have too much choice, too many opportunities, and are too freaked out by all the talk about online privacy to hand over their emails to anyone who asks. How to Market Your Kindle Ebook in 10 Steps. You should promote your ebook with a press release or at least an article on your blog announcing the official launch. More How To Promote Your Ebook videos. But does that mean you can’t generate leads anymore? No, of course not! However, just putting an eBook out there and hoping for the best probably won’t get you any meaningful results. These days you have to promote the heck out of your lead magnet and use multi-channel approach to drive potential traffic to it. And then, do even more work to convince them to sign up. That’s what I’m going to talk to you about in this post. I’ll show you how to market and promote an eBook to generate leads using our recent eBook as an example and tell you what we’ve learned in the process. If you don’t have an eBook for your marketing, you can learn. So, let’s begin. About Our Campaign I’m sure ( hope?) you’ve noticed me writing a bit about social proof recently. I wrote a massive at the end of last year (and then, updated it this month with some new sections) and. And earlier last year I wrote about. We used all this content to promote an eBook –. Our goal was, of course, to generate leads. But we also wanted to test the best ways to market an eBook. And here’s what we’ve found. You Simply Have to Create a Killer Landing Page for the eBook This step is actually super important. ![]() ![]() Although some of your blog visitors might prefer to download the eBook directly from the site ( more on this shortly), not launching a separate landing page for the lead magnet will limit your promotion opportunities. After all, you can’t run ads to leads to a blog post (well, technically you can, but I doubt it would generate any meaningful results). Nor you can position an eBook on its own in Google. But a landing page allows you to use various channels to attract and convert highly relevant visitors, ones already looking for the information from the eBook and ready to sign up. As Ryan Lynch from Hubspot put in: Landing pages serve the dual purpose of capturing leads and warming up potential customers. Both of these are essential stepping-stones before moving a customer further down your sales funnel. At minimum: • Headline communicating your USP. • Image that gives the page a context. • List of benefits of your offering. • Lead capture form. We’ve talked about landing pages a lot here on AdEspresso already. To find out more about building an ideal landing page for your eBook, check out our massive, or tips for. And here’s an example of a lead generation landing page from Hubspot: To promote our eBook we launched a simple landing page: How did the page perform for us? 2.6% of people who saw a link to it on our site, clicked to the landing page. The landing page converted at 51.73% ( submissions). However, many of these people are already on our various lists. The page generated 13.28% in new contacts signups. Promote Your eBook from Within the Blog Too This is the absolute minimum. Your readers are lazy. Not everyone will want to go to a landing page to download an eBook. Therefore, put up a signup box all over your blog to allow readers grab the eBook without having to stop reading your content. Your bottom-of-the-post CTA leads the readers to take action straight after they finished reading the content. And by including the signup form on the CTA, you reduce the amount of work they need to do to download your eBook. How did the box perform for us? First things first, we didn’t launch the signup box right away. Instead, we had a call to action that would take readers to the landing page. Therefore, our results here don’t include the people who have clicked to the landing page before we put up the box. How Did It Do? The average conversion of the box was way lower than of the landing page. Between 3 posts we had it on, the average conversion was just.58%. So while that not might sound like much, this was at the very end of the posts about social proof marketing. So I still think that putting up a direct signup box is worth it. Although it’s something you may have to test for yourself. Promote the Hell of the eBook with Facebook Ads Facebook ads are a great way to promote your eBook to a very specific audience. And no, I’m not saying that because of what AdEspresso is. It’s a fact: Facebook Ads allow you to target people almost guaranteed to be interested in your eBook’s topic. You can use or audiences to find highly targeted traffic and send them back to your eBook. You could, for example, insert a Facebook Pixel tracking code and target people who have visited blog posts relevant to your eBook (more on this in a second) or use a list of current customers to find people similar to them. The options are many. The point is, Facebook Ads allow you to reach a highly targeted audience and attract them to your eBook. For this campaign, we launched a single ad, promoting a blog post that linked to the eBook’s landing page (at the time. Note the post features the signup box). We have a full post just dedicated to. You Must Tell Your Email Subscribers About the eBook This is where our strategy fell flat on its face. You see, here’s the deal: Your eBook shouldn’t be just for new customers only. In fact, the eBook could help strengthen your relationships with existing clients, establish your authority status, help them, and increase their trust in you. But /*cough*/ you see we never emailed our list about it. I know, in hindsight, I know it was stupid not to do it. Don’t repeat that mistake. The moment your eBook goes live, tell your existing audience about it. Support Your eBook with Blog Posts I’ll tell you, this is by far my favorite strategy of them all. Granted, it requires fair bit of planning and preparation that you should do even before the eBook goes live. But it can deliver kick a** results over time. Its premise is simple: You need to develop a secondary, supporting content for the eBook. These posts should be relevant to its topic to attract highly targeted visitors. Optimize those posts for keywords related to the topic of the eBook and then promote the lead magnet with a bottom-of-the-post CTA or a popup. As a result, you should have a number of content pieces, ranking in Google for keywords people searching for the topic of the eBook would use, driving them to the site and prompting them to grab the lead magnet. Genius, isn’t it? Now, I don’t have a proof for that. But that’s what I think companies like do to promote their eBooks. They seem to start with the lead magnet, then develop a series of complimentary blog posts they use to promote the eBook. Here’s our Google Analytics stats: And second, although much more mild, “doh!” momentWe didn’t differentiate which eBook was downloaded on the blog posts. So although there’s a 1% conversion rate, it could be for any of our ebooks. And while we could assume it was for the Social Proof book, you know what they say about people who make assumptions So there you have it The 5 must-do strategies for promoting a marketing eBook. These are the absolute minimum we think you should do to market an eBook. But hey Pawel, honestly, is there anything else you guys should have done? I’ve already mentioned that we should have emailed our newsletter subscribers about the eBook. That was a major oversight on our part. We also should have advertised the eBook’s landing page with Facebook. We’ve only ran ads to promote the massive guide to social proof marketing (which in turn promoted the eBook). We also could have created a to promote the eBook directly. And finally, we should have taken up our own advice and split test the landing page to find the best converting option. Next time hopefully. By In 1927 Katherine Mayo, a foreign journalist, visited India. She wrote a book called 'Mother India'. It was about Indian civilization, culture and life. She saw only sheer ignorance and filth in India and nothing good or decent. People who were opposed to the freedom of India had given money for the publication of Miss Mayo's book. In response to that book Lala Lajpat Rai wrote this book. Lala Lajpat Rai busted that myth in this book. He said that Hindu religion is alive because numberless Hindu warriors protected the Hindu religion with their blood. Muslims were not able to rule more than 10% of land. They were confined to big cities. They did not have courage to go to 90% of the land which was controlled by Hindus. The 10% land where Muslims were really ruling no Hindu temple was left and everyone was forced to convert to Islam. Shivaji was born in time of Muslim dominance. He fought bravely with Muslim oppressors with help of thousands of brave warriors. Muslims were afraid to enter his territory. ![]() This book is really helpful in understanding history of India. लेखक You need Google Play Books for opening EPUB file on your mobile This book is written by Lala Lajpat Rai on life and teaching of Bhagwan Shri Krishna. This is a very intelligent person who is now retired from a successful career as business leader. In most cases he behaves as one of the wisest people I know. To fix the pain he went to his doctor. Yet the result of meeting his doctor was not to locate and resolve the cause of the backache, (which interestingly is situated directly opposite a rather large waistline). Instead it was to complain to the doctor that the painkillers he previously prescribed were not strong enough! Three days later and with the new prescription the problem was considered solved. This little anecdote is offered as a symbol of how technology and the advice of an expert have replaced our need to listen closely and be responsible for our feelings and our bodies. Was the problem in this case solved or merely avoided? What happens if the technology (in this case, stronger painkillers) stops working? Most importantly, where is the drive to find the source of the pain and resolve it once and for all? To function as it is designed, most of modern day life requires technology. In less than a generation technology has gone from an erratic and undependable but helpful accessory to the organizer, controller and analyzer of most things we do. More and more Technology seems to be shaping our behavior whether or not we are conscious of it. Often we just adjust to its increasing power and function without even questioning the consequences. In the process many of us act more and more as if we have forgotten the essence of what makes us human. That is to consciously feel. Becoming more conscious of and working with your body language can add new and exciting dimensions to your professional as well as personal life. You can practice improving your sales, service, leadership and teamwork skills. You can use it to relax and better enjoy some quality time with friends and family. Your health will increase and stress levels decrease while learning more about how you and others function. By daring to go off-line to observe, sense and trust your intuition, all this information about you and everyone around you is available and waiting. Does this mean that someone else can also see and sense all this in you too? Since cracking this code myself, I am just amazed how few people get the power and utility that is available using simple soft skills to gather information, make better decisions, plus create more profitable and enjoyable relationships. Your willingness and ability to learn about and understand the “language of the body” provides you this distinct edge. Whether you lead, sell, serve or just communicate with others, learning the “language of the body” will give you much more power and control over your own situation and the relationships you create. More importantly, it will also give you both tools and insight into discovering and handling what other people are doing to manipulate your thoughts, beliefs and behavior. Watch video Scott Dinsmore quit a job that made him miserable, and spent the next four years wondering how to find work that was joyful and. If you clicked on this article, you probably don't like your job, and you probably have at least a shred of hope that if the stars aligned, you could. But finding isn't something that you should leave up to chance – it takes effort and action. 'Finding work you love really begins and ends with your surroundings,' says Scott Dinsmore, founder of, a site that inspires and prepares people to build careers they love. 'Spend your time with people who inspire you and people who refuse to let you give up.' While finding work you truly love might seem like a vague or daunting endeavor, you can take concrete steps to find that kind of fulfillment. These five steps are a great place to start: 1. Surround yourself with people who love their work. Misery may love company, but it also breeds more misery. 'If the people you're surrounded by don't like their work, that's going to bring you down,' Dinsmore says. 'It'll limit your creativity and infect your ideas.' Don’t shut out unhappy friends, just make a conscious effort to seek positive company. Think of one person you know who inspires you and spend more time with them by inviting them to lunch or an after work yoga class. 'If you surround yourself with people who are truly living differently, it changes your belief about what’s possible,' Dinsmore says. Work to improve your strengths and talents. Fulfillment increases as your skills improve because you’re able to utilize your talents to their full potential. 'It's really important to spend your time getting better at something,' Dinsmore says. 'The more time we spend on things we're good at -- getting better at them -- that’s where fulfillment really comes from.' Identify your strengths by noticing what comes easily to you or what you do because it's fun, then work hard to hone those skills. You won't be an expert right off the bat, but if you take a little bit of natural talent and apply a lot of effort, you’ll get there. Identify the impact you want to have on the world. People who love their work typically feel a sense of purpose -- a sense that their work has a meaningful impact on the world. 'We all want to move the needle in some way,' Dinsmore says. 'That's what really fuels people.' As you choose the impact you want to have, focus on what you actually care about, not what you think you should care about. 'A lot of people are working toward a definition of success that is meaningless to them,' Dinsmore says. 'They’re climbing a ladder to nowhere.' Be honest about what really matters to you, then work toward that. Learn as much as you can about the life you want. When you consider a potential career or industry, research what it's like day-to-day and what it really takes to succeed. ![]() ![]() 'A lot of people assume that a job is glamorous,' Dinsmore says. 'They don't have a clue what's really involved.' Look behind the scenes to figure out what your field’s experts were doing when they were still unknown. Find role models who are willing to talk with you about their career paths in as much detail as possible, or learn from public resources like books, blogs, panel discussions, and TED talks. Not only will that tell you how to succeed, it will tell you if you want to. Try, and try again. There is, sadly, no magic bullet for building a career you love or choosing the kind of company you want to start. Finding the right match is a process of trial and error. Low-risk ways to test your options, such as shadowing someone for a day, will help you find what you actually enjoy in practice. As you look for work you love, you may have to shake up your life, step out of your comfort zone, make a few mistakes. 'Treat life as one big experiment or a series of mini-experiments,' Dinsmore says. If you stay curious and keep trying, you’ll land where you need to be. Three Parts: Recent research statistics when it comes to employees and their jobs are a little unnerving – around 80% say we're unhappy, don't feel engaged, and just don't really care for our jobs. If this speaks to you, you're in good (but not very enjoyable) company. How do you break out of the underemployed, unhappily employed cycle? If you know what you can't live without, set your mind to starting a passion project and pour yourself into your work: soon, the work you'll be doing will be the work you love doing. Commitment and living up to your personal values are key. Ask yourself some very basic questions. In order to get on the right track for a fruitful career, you've got to know yourself to your core. One way to find work you love is to find out your passion and pursue it in hopes of building a career. Another way is to live a life you love, with love (made of courage, authenticity to yourself, people you respect and admire, and a loving and winning attitude of getting the most out of life) and find what work approaches you on your journey while staying true to yourself and your values. By loving and valuing every aspect of your life and defending your values (be they justice, truth, freedom, or something else) in the way that you live, you will naturally become a person who loves the work that they do, no matter the work. A balance of both approaches might be the best route. Here are some questions to ask yourself: • Why love the work I do, and how can I show it more respect? How can I make it more valuable? • What gets me up in the morning? How do I want to spend my days? • Why do I want to work? • How do I want to work? • What would I be doing if money or others' expectations for me weren't a factor? • What do I do best? • What work inspires me to be a better person? • What fascinates me and makes me curious, and why? • What do I enjoy most? • What can I do for the world? • What do I envy in other people's careers? • What kind of professional life (not just profession) do I dream of? • Why am I alive? • How can I be most useful to the world? • What's a talent or understanding only I have? Define 'success.' For some people, success means a big paycheck. For others, it means a family. For others, it could mean peace of mind, wholeness, deep fulfillment, or all of the above. What's your definition of success? Write it down, in your own words - finding your voice (necessary for a good life) requires you to step out of the model or mould you've been given and be authentic to yourself and your ideal life. • What would you need to do career-wise to truly be and feel successful? Whatever your definition is, make sure your definition of success and the work you're considering line up. Work is not only your job description (what you do) but also why you do it and how. • Let's say a major part of your definition of success is having a fair amount of time to spend with family and getting days off for vacations and gatherings. If one of the paths you're considering is starting your own business, you may have to reevaluate this thought as starting your own business may require long, exhausting work weeks, (at least in the beginning). Is that a sacrifice you're willing to make? Determine your unique strengths. Employ the trifecta of 'good's - what work inspires you to be good (a better person, or your best unique self), what are you good at (what are your unique talents and skills) and what are you good for (what is your specific usefulness to the world)? What combination of talents, values and ideas do you have that you don't see in other people? • Let's say you're really good at baking. There are a lot of good bakers out there. What could you combine with this passion of yours to set yourself apart from the crowd? Do you have tons of crazy ideas and are constantly trying crazy flavors and combinations? Do you like working with kids? Is charity work a passion? How could you conflate multiple interests? Check the path of your passion. Once you have an idea of what you would love to do, it's best to check your target, because sometimes it's hard to see the forest through the trees. Maybe you think you want to be a great marathon runner, but it's not because you love running – it's because you love studying how the human body moves and you'd be better off as a coach or a researcher. Maybe you think you want to be the world's best baker, but what you really love is feeding people – and you should actually open a cafe. Check that your passion and work are well-aligned before you assume anything. • Hundreds of years ago, there were a dozen jobs to choose from. Now that's a practically infinite number. In analyzing your passion, make sure to think outside of the box. Just because you love running doesn't mean you should be a runner. Just because you love baking doesn't mean you should be a baker. You could be a coach, a shoe designer, a dietitian, a teacher, anything. Try everything. If you have no idea what your passion truly is, start by just trying something you feel a personal connection with. By definition, passion is less in what you do and more in why you do it. Focus on something and try to develop it. • Living in a larger urban area there will be temp agencies that can get you a foothold into different work environments that you may otherwise not think of, and because you would only be a temporary employee you may still be able to afford to do some job hopping at first. As a temp, you can be easily be fired by clients of an agency, but most agencies themselves will keep sending you out as long as there is demand and employees are not tied down to one agency if they choose which helps with their money when demand slackens. When something interests you and your gut tells you to pursue it, do so. You could find skills or interests you didn't even know you had, completely changing your course. • Take a yoga class. Teach yourself code. Start painting. Ride a horse. Plant a garden. Pick up a guitar. Brew your own beer. Take skydiving lessons. When opportunity comes, take it. After all, it's not a lengthy visitor. Research what you're getting into. So many of us say we want to be something, when really we want the glorified, idyllic version of it. We want to be a famous author, but we don't want to deal with rejection after rejection. We want to be a blogger, but we don't want to spend hours and hours pushing content and doing virtual schmoozing. We want to be a musician, but we don't want to be flat broke. Whatever it is, make sure you're going into it knowing the downside of it, too. If you see the downside and you still want it, that's what you should be doing. • If you can, do a job shadow with an acquaintance where you can get in on a piece of the action. If that's not doable, find a few people in this position that you can shoot an email to or ask some questions. Do research online, too, getting a feel for the field. With a good head on your shoulders, you'll be more likely to succeed. Surround yourself with passionate people. Have you ever heard the phrase, 'You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with?' Whether you have or haven't, know that there's truth behind that statement. We tend to blend in with those around us – if they're negative, we become negative. If they're happy, we become happy. And if they're not passionate, we risk losing our passion. • In short, your environment is huge. If the people around you hate their jobs, you're more likely to hate your job – and be totally complacent about it, because they are, too. Instead, try to surround yourself with people who are equally driven and who will support you (instead of thinking you're crazy for pursuing your dreams). They're just the type of people you need to get started. ![]() ![]() Webinar: Ebooks for Students Posted January 11th, 2016 & filed under,. |
